For information sharing to occur in the Child Protection - Information Sharing (CP-IS) functionality, you must fully record the Child Protection and Looked After information on Mosaic.

Where there's a match with the NHS Spine, the CP-IS interface passes messages back and forth without error. When there's an error in the data on either Mosaic or the NHS Spine, you must amend this as quickly as possible.

⚠️ Warning: While data remains mismatched, information does not pass between the systems.

Data match requirements

The information that needs to match for a successful upload is:

  • Full name.

  • Date of birth.

  • NHS number, matching the name and date of birth.

Name match criteria

The full name used in CP-IS messages combines two pieces of name data in Mosaic; the surname, taken from the Last Name field, and the first name, taken from the First Names field.

This is the most common data mismatch you may have.

For a match with the NHS Spine, the Last Name field in Mosaic must match the Family Name field on NHS Spine. Once matched, the CP-IS interface attempts to match the first names, using the below criteria in sequential order. Once there's a match, the sequence stops.

First check

The First Names field in Mosaic exactly match the Given Names on Spine.
The Given Names are a combination of the First Given Name and Other Given Names fields.

Example

Mosaic First Names

Spine First Given Name

Spine Other Given Names

David Thomas

David

Thomas

Second check

Only the first name in Mosaic's First Names field match the First Given Name on Spine.

Example

Mosaic First Names

Spine First Given Name

Spine Other Given Names

David Thomas

David

Third check

Only the first name in Mosaic's First Names field match any of the given names on Spine. This can be either in the First Given Name field, or the Other Given Names field.

Example

Mosaic First Names

Spine First Given Name

Spine Other Given Names

David Thomas

Thomas

David

Fourth check

If Mosaic's First Names field contains a hyphenated name, only the first part of this needs to match the First Given Name field on Spine.

Example

Mosaic First Names

Spine First Given Name

Spine Other Given Names

David-Thomas

David

Thomas
