From version 25.1.0.0, Mosaic supports functionality in the Welsh language as follows:

  • Output to Word functionality will allow easy use of Welsh templates, ease of translation outside of Mosaic and the ability to output addresses and certain pre-populated reference data in PDF or Word in Welsh (see below).

  • Mosaic can now store Welsh translations for person reference data (e.g. ethnicity, gender, name types etc.) for use in Mosaic outputs. Translation is only currently available for person data – and not, for example worker or organisation data.

  • Most translations will need to be input and configured locally, to allow for the addition of new data items, and to account for regional differences in the Welsh language. At present this is via a script which will need to be run against the database – but the ability to configure these in the front end is planned for release soon.

  • A person’s spoken first language can now be recorded in a widget on a person summary, with badges shown for Welsh and English

  • The use of Welsh versions of addresses in exported documents is now supported.

Thus, from version 25.1.0.0 onwards, a worker will be able to export a work step or form to PDF (or Microsoft Word format, which is also new to version 25.1.0.0) and choose whether to export the subject’s reference data populated via URIs in Welsh or English. They will also be able to record a person’s language preference, and a Welsh version of their address for use in outputs.
