When copying text from a PDF can lead to symbols or misspellings due to the following reasons:
Fonts in some PDF files might not include Unicode tables or standard encoding, which leads to incorrect character mapping.
Character mapping information might be deliberately obfuscated to prevent copying.
The document could have low accuracy Optical Character Recognition (OCR) applied before uploading.
For these reasons, we advise against copying and pasting into Mosaic from a PDF. This can cause further problems down the line, even preventing the document from being opened.
