To merge a work item in an individual or group workflow, you'll see the merge icon on the toolbar if merging is possible. To be able to merge, you'll need the following system function assigned. For individual workflows, this needs to be group-enabled.
Enable separate steps if the same type to be used to join up workflows.
You can only merge from an incoming step into an incomplete step. If the incoming step just started, it doesn't need to be saved before you initiate the merge, though the merge will only take effect after you save it. A workflow merge will be blocked if the source step involves a restricted subject person or has privileged access controls.

To complete the merge, follow these simple steps:

From the toolbar, click Merge.
Find and select the workflows to merge.
Click OK.
