Not every worker can view or edit every type of step. Permissions are set per worker role and per step type, so what you can do depends on your role and the type of step you are working with. This article explains how step permissions work and what each permission level means.
Permission levels
Each step type has the following permission levels, which are set for each worker role:
Permission | What it allows |
Browse | You can see that the step exists in lists and search results. |
Read | You can view the step detail. |
Edit | You can open and make changes to the step. |
Add | You can create a new step of this type. |
Delete | You can delete the step. |
Copy | You can copy a step forward to create a new one based on it. |
Reopen | You can reopen a step after it has been completed. |
π Note: If you cannot see or access a step that you expect to be available, it is likely that your role does not have the required permission for that step type. Contact your system administrator to review your permissions.
Privileged access steps
Some step types require privileged access. These are used for sensitive casework where access needs to be tightly controlled.
β
When a privileged step is started:
A privileged section is created that groups all related steps together.
A section coordinator is assigned (based on the opening worker's organisation).
Only workers within the same privileged section can view the step.
β οΈ Important: If a step has a privileged access indicator (shown as a crown icon), only workers in the privileged section can access it. If you need access, contact the section coordinator.
