Carer approval types can be edited, ended, and deleted in the Admin Tool. The management of Carer approval types relates to whether they are available to be added as an approval type for a carer. It doesn't control whether they are available in the Carer Register search.

Description

Deleting a carer approval type

A Carer approval type can only be deleted in the Admin Tool if it's not been recorded on any carers. Once it has been used, it is no longer possible to delete the carer type and the delete option will become unavailable.

Ending a carer approval type

Carer approval types can be ended at any point. This means they're no longer available to be selected as a Carer approval type when adding a new one to a carer record. It has no effect on existing approvals for that Carer approval type, which remain active on carers until ended on the carer record.

Searching the carer register

The Carer Register shows all carer approval types recorded, regardless of whether these have been ended in the Admin Tool. They only returns carers, however, who have current approvals of this type. Where carer approval types are no longer being used, this can also help to identify carers whose records need to be updated.
