When on a Person Summary screen and clicking the Start button on the left-hand menu, the worksteps available to start may differ between different people.
This is all to do with the context of the person on the Person Summary screen. Regardless of date of birth, a person can be assigned a context of either Adult or Child.
Whether the Context is Adult or Child will control which steps the worker can select, as well as also impacting the other menu items and content available, such as the Looked After menu or Service User groups.
The Context of a person can be changed by navigating to:
On Person Summary Screen.
Click Person Details.
Click Basic Details.
Switch Context radio button over to either Adult or Child.
Click Save.
You will now see the Basic Details Widget on the Person Summary screen has updated the Context of the person, and that the Start list is different for what can be selected.
Context is not driven by date of birth, it is set separately, and the way this is used should be decided locally. As a general rule, those accessing children's services would have a context of child - unrelated to the date of birth, as they can be an over 18 receiving children's services.
Where worksteps are required to be recorded on people with a context of adult or child, which may include worksteps relating to transition from children's to adult's services, these worksteps should be set with a context of both.
