The Access Group is committed to digital accessibility. We actively work towards compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the internationally recognised standard for digital accessibility and the level required under the UK Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
We're committed to ensuring that all new functionality meets these requirements. We're aware that some legacy areas of the system don't yet fully comply, and this is being addressed as part of our ongoing modernisation of Mosaic.
Specific accreditations
AbilityNet Accredited Plus, DAC, and Shaw Trust are all reputable UK-based organisations providing independent accessibility certification involving both disabled user testing and technical audits against WCAG standards. These certifications are typically time-limited to 12 months and are scope-specific.
VPAT/ACR (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template/Accessibility Conformance Report) is a standardised self-assessment document that details how a product conforms to WCAG and other accessibility standards.
UKAS accreditation applies to testing laboratories and certification bodies themselves, rather than to individual digital products, so this wouldn't typically apply to software accessibility certification.
Our current position
We currently maintain our accessibility compliance through internal testing processes and remediation aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
We previously undertook an assessment through AbilityNet and have addressed the high-level areas that were identified and possible to remediate within the current solution.
We're looking to undertake further external accreditation in the near future and will provide more information about this when it becomes available.
