Every person in Mosaic must belong to at least one service user group. Service user groups categorise people based on the services they receive or are eligible for. Each person must have one primary group, and can have multiple secondary groups.

Primary and secondary groups

Primary group
Every person must have exactly one active primary group at all times. The primary group is the main classification used across the system for reporting and routing.

Secondary groups
A person can belong to multiple secondary groups at the same time. Secondary groups reflect additional services or classifications beyond the primary group.

πŸ“Œ Note: A secondary group's end date must not extend beyond the primary group's end date. If you need to extend a secondary group, extend the primary group first.

Assign a service user group

  1. Open the relevant person record.

  2. Navigate to Service user groups.

  3. Click Add to assign a new group.

  4. Select the relevant group from the list.

  5. Set the Start date and, if applicable, the End date.

  6. If this is the person's primary group, set the Primary flag to Yes.

  7. Click Save.

⚠️ Important: If you are assigning the first group to a person, it must be marked as primary.

Rules and constraints

  • There must always be exactly one primary group active at any time.

  • Groups can have overlapping date ranges, meaning a person can belong to multiple groups at the same time.

  • A secondary group's end date must not go beyond the primary group's end date.

  • When creating a person with service user groups, one group must be flagged as primary.
