You can mark an organisation as end-dated or as not referable to show it shouldn't be used going forward. Neither of these settings currently stops the organisation being offered - or receiving work - through a next action on a workflow step.
End-dated organisations
End-dating an organisation currently only prevents it from being used for finance. It doesn't stop workers from selecting it for next actions.

Organisations marked as not referable
If a next action already has an organisation configured as a possible recipient, and you later mark that organisation as not referable:
The organisation no longer appears in the list of next action recipients on the workflow step configuration screen.
The underlying next action configuration for that organisation is still in place - it's just no longer visible to you.
When someone completes that workflow step, the organisation is still offered as a next action option, and work can still be sent to it.
📌Note: Check an organisation's referable status before assigning work to it through a next action, as the referable setting doesn't currently stop this.
A fix is targeted for a future release. Once released, non-referable organisations will no longer be offered as next action recipients on the workflow step completion screen, and sending work to one this way will be rejected. Steps already assigned to an organisation before it became not referable won't be affected by this change.
