Unique ID (UPRN) set to null when moving or editing an address

In this article, we explain why some person addresses lack a Unique Property Reference Number (UPRNs) after moving or editing.

We’re aware of a bug causing the following:

Where an address is added to a record in Mosaic, the unique identifier provided by the Gazetteer, the UPRN, is recorded in the database tables. Where an address is subsequently edited or a new address added using the ‘moving lorry’ icon then the UPRN is removed (editing) or not recorded (moving).

This causes problems with reporting that used UPRNs to identify addresses for wards or where UPRNs were used to identify vulnerabilities.

Resolution (Mosaic 22.2.0.0+)

When you add an address to a record, whether by add or move, the UPRN records in the tables.

When an address is edited subsequently to being added to a record from the Gazetteer it will retain the original UPRN.

Correct process following upgrade

Addresses should only be edited to add or correct information for that same address. If an address is edited to make it a different address this would retain the incorrect UPRN.
In that case a new address should be added, rather than an edit being performed.

There’s a fix for this bug in the Mosaic 22.2.0.0 release. A script is available to run after the upgrade, which will add UPRNs back to addresses where they were removed due to the bug.

📌 Note: This script will ONLY work for addresses that still fully match the equivalent address in the gazetteer.
