Narrow workview shows unexpected folder

In this article, we explore why an unexpected folder name, such as None, may appear when viewing work in narrow workview.

When viewing work in narrow workview, the folders shown represent the sorting column of the work. When sorted by type, for example, the folders will show labels such as Incoming, Incomplete, Future etc. In full workview, there is a wider range of headings that can be used for sorting the work.

If you sort by a column in full workview and then move to narrow workview, the work items may remain sorted by that same column, regardless of whether it is a visible column in narrow workview. If the work is sorted by Due Date or Note, there may be a folder entitled None - including all the pieces of work with no due date or no assignment note. This is correct, but can be a little confusing in narrow workview, as it is not clear which column the work is sorted by, and so what the folder represents.

You can click on an alternative column heading to change this - you will be able to see which column the items are sorted by as an arrow will show next to the column header. If there is no arrow in narrow workview, then it is sorted by one of the columns visible in full workview.
